- Stage 1 — San Miniato to Gambassi Terme (24 km): Cross the Val d'Elsa via Pieve di Coiano and Pieve a Chianni, both recorded by Sigeric in 990 AD.
- Stage 2 — Gambassi Terme to San Gimignano (13.5 km): Approach the UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its 13 surviving medieval towers and Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Italy's first DOC wine.
- Stage 3 — San Gimignano to Colle Val d'Elsa (12 km): Walk through classic Tuscan landscapes past the 11th-century Abbey of Santa Maria a Conero.
- Stage 4 — Colle Val d'Elsa to Monteriggioni (11–15 km): Reach the circular fortress of Monteriggioni, whose towers inspired Dante's Inferno.
- Stage 5 — Monteriggioni to Siena (20 km): Enter Siena through the Porta Camollia pilgrim gate and arrive in Piazza del Campo.
